The 2023 courses are the same as last year. Both races will start on The Causeway by the Celtic Ross Hotel. Reacting to comments on our 2017 Finish Line, you will now cross the pontoon at the end of the race and the Finish Line is on the Pier Road – directly across from The Celtic Ross Hotel (Race HQ).
You will not find a course like this anywhere ….truly unique! Starting on road, you will cross the causeway making your way to the first of three beaches, The Warren, Rosscarbery, then climb up the the newly upgraded cliff walk, from where you will see out over Rosscarbery Bay and The Galley Head, then down to Beach No 2, Owenahincha, along the road to entrance of Castlefreke Castle, privately owned and open solely for this event!
Running through the castle grounds and Castlefreke woodland area (The 10K race then breaks back to Owenahnicha Dunes) and back towards Warren) onto fabulously maintained Trail paths (maintained by Coillte) up to Lord Carbery Cross (a nice little pull up, but so worth the views!) and then more trails around Kilkern Lake and on to Beach No. 3 The Long Strand, a mile of sand running which brings you back onto the Owenahincha road heading for home, back over Cliff Walk , across Warren Beach and across the estuary, via a special made pontoon, on to the Pier Road where the race finishes just across from the Celtic Ross Hotel!
